Cataloging and sharing auto parts data

This week, we participated in two meetings with Mercado Libre and the Auto Care Association,of the United States. The meetings were held at the offices of Mercado Livre Brasil and Mercado Libre Argentina. A technology standards seminar for creating and sharing auto parts data. A very important meeting for the auto parts industry in which brands and manufacturers of parts of all kinds of specialty participated.

The Auto Care Association, provides advisory services, education, relationships, technology and market intelligence and communication resources to all its members. Auto Care works with the entire commercial chain of the automotive industry, particularly the aftermarket, with approximately 3,000 member companies of the network that represent more than 150,000 businesses in the manufacture, distribution and sale of auto parts, accessories, tools, equipment, materials and automotive services, vehicle repair and maintenance.

For two years, Aleph has worked together with Mercado Libre throughout the region, brands, manufacturers, wholesale distributors and businesses to digitize parts information from aftermarket . A current problem due to the lack of structured and digital product catalogs or the impossibility of easily sharing information. The digitization of auto parts products corresponds to the creation of content that from Aleph, in each project, we structure and make available to all members of the commercial chains.

Our cataloging process works in three stages. The first is the creation of basic information, which starts with the information related to the brand, part code, product name, description and photos. The second is the creation of attributes or characteristics of products such as weight, height, length, position, with a particularity: from Aleph we automatically validate and through software integrations the mandatory requirements so that a product can then be published in marketplaces such as Mercado Libre, the main auto parts sales channel in the region and our main partner. The third and last, the association of spare parts with the vehicle fleet of the corresponding country. A difficult job that requires the validation of product engineers of the manufacturing plants and of all the specialists of the commercial chain with knowledge in the matter.

Once the digital catalog has been created, the online auto parts marketing projects can be started and accelerated, the category with the highest growth in online sales and mainly in the Mercado Libre Marketplace. A category of an industry that does not stop innovating and together with Aleph is planting the new era of electronic commerce.
